The Challenge

Shoalhaven Solar was established in 2018, driven by a passion to provide quality solar energy systems so their customers become less reliant on energy retailers, saving them thousands of dollars annually, and to help more people use clean energy.

With a brand already in place, the initially needed an online holding page whilst a full multi-page website was designed and built. They also needed help to draw traffic to their website and build up their customer and referrals base to enable them to sustain and grow the business.

The Solution

Starting with a simple holding page in 2018, we designed and built a full website in 2019 detailing the services Shoalhaven Solar offer, the trusted brands they use, and their credentials. This first website enabled the business to build its initial customer base and gave us a platform to start directing traffic to. In mid-2019 we began Search Engine Marketing with Google Adwords and ongoing Search Engine Optimisation and content marketing, utilising both the website and an email newsletter.

As these methods helped to bring traffic and customers, the business grew and in 2021 a new more fully-featured website was designed, going live in early 2022. With a larger budget, a more extensive strategy and design process started with planning a site structure that was both very customer and search engine friendly. An online solar system calculator was custom-built, enabling customers to input various details to find out straight away what size system would suit them best, and enabling the business to provide a quote for this to the customer. The most popular solar system packages and FAQs were all given prominence to make it as easy as possible for customers to understand how solar could work for them. Providing a free Ultimate Guide to Solar e-book to those who sign up to their email list also enables their database of customers to continue to grow.

With solar being a sector with some disreputable providers, it was also vital to convey legitimacy and build trust with prospective customers. This was achieved through the incorporation of case studies of real installations in the area, clear steps on what the installation process is, a video showing the owner talking and the expert team at work, a Knowledge Base of useful articles and resources, customer reviews aggregated from Google, Facebook and the popular SolarQuotes website, clear contact details and office location, and their Clean Energy Council accreditation.

The business has continued to go from strength to strength since then, with the original team of 3 people growing to a team of 12 by 2023. We continue to support them with ongoing SEO to maintain the site's strong presence in organic search rankings.
