Calmbirth

Calmbirth® is a Southern Highlands based organisation, operating across Australia and offering one of Australia's most well known and trusted childbirth education programs.

When Calmbirth approached us, they were in a need of a completely new website that would be easier for them to manage, and would enable their nearly 100 educators to accept course bookings and payments directly and seamlessly. Furthermore, prospective parents would need to be able to search for courses by suburb, postcode, dates and educator names, book online, and buy items to support their childbirth journey.

Another significant challenge was how best to organise and present the detailed, high quality information about the course, what to expect, the research behind the Calmbirth approach, FAQs and more.

The first essential step was to conduct keyword search to understand how prospective parents search for childbirth education online, and undertake a content audit of the current website to understand what pages and information currently existed. From this, an information architecture (site map) was drafted to give the new website a clear navigation and hierarchy of information to improve both the user experience and the "crawlability" fo the site for search engines.

Visual designs of every key page and template were created and refined in collaboration with the client, so our development team could be clearly guided through the complex technical requirements, particularly of key functions such as the course search. Implementation involved a custom WordPress theme and custom coding of the course search to enable this feature to work exactly as envisaged. Course payment processing connecting to educators' individual Stripe accounts streamlined business operations and gives visitors a seamless booking and payment experience.
